Chi sono gli "Eremiti Uniti del Dottore"?
Prima di tutto NON siamo un club: niente quote associative, ne' numeri di tessera. Siamo appassionati di Doctor Who... di una o tutte le sue incarnazioni, di quelle doppiate per l'Italia e quelle ancora inedite... conosciamo la saga a menadito oppure ne abbiamo "assaggiato" solo alcuni pezzetti... "Viviamo" la nostra passione principalmente sulla rete, e dunque potremmo chiamarci una "community". In pratica... siamo un gruppo che condivide la stessa passione.

Perche' non siamo un club?
Il fenomeno di Doctor Who, in Italia, non e' (ancora!) al livello di quello esistente nel Regno Unito. Non abbiamo bisogno di una vera e propria associazione, ma semplicemente di punti di riferimento che ci diano la possibilita' di sapere dell'esistenza reciproca per darci modo di scambiarci le nostre opinioni. La rete ci offre queste possibilita'... non costa nulla ed e' liberamente usufruibile nei modi preferiti: mailing list, forum, siti...

Questo sito e' quello ufficiale italiano di Doctor Who?
No. Non abbiamo alcuna esclusiva ne' ufficialita'. Siamo un punto di riferimento per chi vuole conoscere Doctor Who, avere notizie e scoprire un punto di partenza per navigare nel vasto mondo del Dottore e dei gruppi vituali che, in Italia, si occupano della serie.

Ma esiste un club italiano a cui iscriversi?
L'associazione "Amici di Who" e' stata fondata da poco, e qui trovate il loro sito. Non e' un club ufficiale e non e' il club degli "Eremiti Uniti", perche' il sito che state visitanto e la comunita' virtuale fondata dalla sottoscritta Gabriella Cordone non diventera' mai un club. Questo sito e la comunita' ospitano senza problemi i link al club citato e a qualsiasi altro club vorra' nascere, come ogni altro gruppo di appassionati dedicati al Dottore.

Cosa distingue gli "Eremiti" dagli altri appassionati di Doctor Who?
Gli "Eremiti" sono come i compagni del Dottore: per diventarlo non basta essere spettatori passivi, bisogna fare qualcosa. Creare un forum, un sito, partecipare alle discussioni della mailing list, inventarsi magliette o altri gadget autoprodotti da regalare agli amici, disegnare, scrivere, indossare costumi alle convention... Fare qualsiasi cosa possa essere utile a far conoscere Doctor Who in Italia.

Gli Eremiti si incontrano soltanto alle convention "Reunion"?
Per adesso gli incontri non virtuali sono stati due! Approfittiamo della convention dello STIC e Ultimo Avamposto, che ringraziamo per l'ospitalita', perche'... perche' no?! Sono convention che gia' esistono, e a cui partecipano molti appassionati di fantascienza, che hanno cosi' occasione di conoscere Doctor Who e la sua storia ultra-quarantacinquennale. Ma non ci sono limitazioni a quando e dove ci incontreremo le prossime volte!

Posso acquistare materiale di Doctor Who da voi?
No. Non siamo impegnati in alcun tipo di attivita' commerciale. Ti possiamo pero' indicare in quali negozi (anche on-line) puoi trovare il merchandising relativo a Doctor Who. In Italia non e' moltissimo, purtroppo, ma qualcosa c'e' e se partecipi alle riunioni che facciamo durante le convention puoi stare sicuro di trovare, ai banchi vendita che trattano fantascienza, diversa oggettistica.

Perche' sul sito non ci sono tutti i nemici del Dottore?
Anche se in Italia Doctor Who e' stato poco trasmesso in TV e quasi nessuno lo conosce, la serie ha una storia cominciata oltre quarantacinque anni fa: i personaggi che sono apparsi nelle centinaia di episodi sono talmente tanti che non e' possibile creare pagine su di loro in poco tempo. Questo sito e i DWHU sono nati soltanto da poco piu' di un anno: dacci tempo e troverai in queste pagine tutto cio' che c'e' da sapere sul Dottore! Se conosci l'inglese puoi intanto visitare i moltissimi siti che esistono sull'argomento. A cominciare dal sito ufficiale della BBC. Qui trovi le serie Classiche, qui le nuove.

Who are the "Doctor Who Hermits United"?
First of all we are NOT an association: no membership fees, no membership numbers. We are Doctor Who fans... of one of all of his incarnations, those dubbed for Italy and those still unaired here... we know the series like the back of our hand or we have "tasted" only a few bits and pieces of it... We "live" our passion mainly on the web, thus we could call ourselves a "community". Practically... we are a group of people sharing a common passion.

Why are we not an association?
Doctor Who phenomenon in Italy is not (yet!) the same huge phenomenon is in the UK. We do not need a proper fan club, but just some point of references that could give us the chance of getting to know each other and exchange our opinions. The web gives us just that... it doesn't cost anything and it is freely usable in many ways: mailing list, forum, websites...

Is this the Italian official Doctor Who website?
No. We don't have any exclusive licensee nor official nature. We are a reference for those who want to know Doctor Who, read fresh news and have a starting point to begin surfing into the vast world of the Doctor and the virtual groups who, in Italy, focus on the series.

Is there fan club for us to subscribe to?
The association "Friends of Who" was founded recenttly and here you can find their website. It is not an official club and it is not the "Hermits United " club, because the this website you're visiting and the virtual community founded by me, Gabriella Cordone, will never become an association. This site and its community will grant hospitality to links of the above mentioned club and links to any other club will be founded, as well as any group of fans devoted to the Doctor.

What makes an "Hermit" different from any other Doctor Who fan?
"Hermits" are like the Doctor's companions: in order to be one you have to be more than just a passive spectator, you have to do something. Create a forum, a website, participate to the discussions on the mailing list, make your own t-shirt or any other amateur gadget to give your friends, be an artist, a fan-fiction writer, a cosplayer at conventions... Do anything useful in order to get Doctor Who known in Italy.

Do hermits get together only at the "Reunion" conventions?
Until now the get-togethers have been two! We make the most of the convention organized by STIC and Ultimo Avamposto, whom we thank for the hospitality, because... well, why not?! They are already existing conventions attended by many science-fiction fans who have the opportunity, through us, to know Doctor Who and its forty-five-years-long history. But there are no limits to when and where we might meet next time!

May I buy Doctor Who merchandise from you?
No. We are not engaged in any commercial activity. We can suggest you some shops (on-line or else) where to find Doctor Who merchandise. Unfortunately there is not much in Italy, but something is out there, and if you come to the get-togethers you can certainly find, in the science fiction shopping area, some memorabilia.

Why on this website there is not a complete list of all the Doctor's enemies?
Even though Doctor Who had been aired very sparsely in Italy and very few know it, the series has an history of over forty-five years: the characters appeared in the hundreds of episodes are so many that it is not possible to create pages about them in a blink of an eye. This website and the DWHU are born only a year and a half ago: give us time and you'll find in these pages all that you need to know about the Doctor! If you can read English you can visit the many websites about the series. Beginning with the official BBC website. Here you can fine the Classic series, here the new.
